International Markets

Marsden International’s client base spans the globe and includes the world’s leading international law firms. Our key markets include London, New York, mainland and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Australia, Asia and Offshore. We are regularly retained by law firms and also represent individual lawyers in their international career search.

The worlds’ leading financial centres are short of suitably qualified lawyers, in particular in the transactional areas of finance and corporate, but also in niche areas such as real estate, technology/telecoms, pensions and tax.

The major law firms are now much more astute in their hiring practices. With partners from all over the world, major international firms have more country-specific insight on candidates. Expect in-depth interviews – both on your substantive knowledge of the law (you may be asked to take a test) and on your reasons for making the move. Firms are not interested in lawyers looking for a one-year stint before going off travelling again; expect to commit at least two to four years.

Don’t assume that partnership is restricted to locally trained lawyers. Firms are international in outlook today and recognize the value that lawyers from other jurisdictions can bring.
