 Jorge L. Contreras is a partner in
the Technology Transactions and Licensing Group based in the Washington, D.C.
office of WilmerHale. This year he is also a Senior Visiting Scholar at the
Center for Law, Innovation and Economic Growth at Washington University School
of Law in St. Louis. Mr. Contreras's practice and research focus on complex
intellectual property transactions for multinational organizations and
institutions. He is the Chair of the Technical Standardization Committee of The American Bar Association's Section of Science & Technology Law and has
advised clients on matters relating to intellectual property and technical
standardization for nearly two decades. He also serves on the National Advisory
Council for Human Genome Research and has written and spoken frequently about
intellectual property policy for scientific research. Mr. Contreras is a
graduate of Harvard Law School, and holds undergraduate degrees in electrical
